      Kelly Foreman

'Tea bowls have their origins steeped in Raku as they were the original works that would have received this mark of excellence. This along with their form and the hands on production make them an ideal vessel for the modern Raku firing.

My abstract forms are based on ideas and drawings from images of whales tails. They reflect the many colours in water and the flow of life in nature.

When an artist produces a piece of work they are putting something of themselves into that work. In all my pieces I endeavour to put life into each piece; a kind of animation; movement; a life of it's own.'

Kelly Foreman qualified in Ceramics at Duncan at Jordanstown, University of Dundee, specialising in Raku. Kelly is inspired by the nature of Raku - the 'hands-on' immediacy of the process, exploring sculptural /functional jug forms. Kelly now works with a variety of sources exploring sculptural and functional form.
